Messaging your child's tutor or the centre

Send a note to your child's tutor or the centre from Messages, and read their replies in the same place.

Updated 18 October 2026

Why this exists

Messages to a tutor can get lost across personal emails and texts. Writing from the parent portal keeps every conversation with your child's tutors and your centre in one place. You can find a reply later without searching through your inbox.

You can write to your child's tutors and your centre from inside the parent portal. No separate email account is needed.

Send a message

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Press New message.
  3. In To, choose the tutor.
  4. In About, choose the child it is about, or The family in general.
  5. Add a subject if you like, write your message and press Send message.

Write to the front desk

To reach the centre rather than a tutor, use Message us on Get help. It goes to your centre's front desk, and their reply appears here in Messages.

Read replies

Replies appear in Messages, newest conversation first. Open a conversation to read it and reply.

You are always included

If your child is ever in a written conversation with a staff member, such as a shared document or a message thread, you are added to it as well. There is no private written channel between staff and a child.

Good to know

  • For anything urgent, such as a lesson today, phone your centre. Its number, if it has given one, is on Get help.
  • To report a worry about your child's safety, use your Safety centre rather than a message.
  • Emails from your tutor about lessons are never treated as marketing, so they keep coming even if you unsubscribe from promotions.
