The tutor pulse
A short, anonymous check-in once a term for tutors and staff about the centre, with results shown only as totals.
Updated 18 October 2026
Why this exists
Owners often learn a tutor was unhappy only when they resign. The tutor pulse asks the team four quick questions once a term, anonymously, so you can see how people are going and act early. Tutors can be honest without putting their name to it.
The tutor pulse asks your tutors and staff four quick questions once a term, so you can see how the team is going without asking anyone to put their name to it.
Before you start
- Switching it on and reading results needs the settings.edit permission.
- It covers the whole centre, so it is for an admin who is not limited to some campuses.
- It is off until your centre switches it on. If you do not see it, it is not switched on for your centre yet.
Switch it on
- Open People > Tutor pulse.
- Turn the pulse on and choose When: which week of each school term it opens (week 3 by default). It stays open Monday to Sunday of that week.
- The page shows when it would open next.
What tutors and staff see
During that week a card appears on their Home > Today page. Nobody is emailed. They answer:
- How are you going overall? (1 to 5)
- Do you have what you need to teach well? (1 to 5)
- Do you feel supported by the centre? (1 to 5)
- Would you recommend working here to a friend? (0 to 10)
- What would make your job easier? (optional, and they are asked not to put names in it)
The card turns into a reminder in the last two days.
Reading the results
Results are totals by question for each term, with a trend over time.
Good to know
- Answers are anonymous. The portal records that a person answered, so they are not asked again, but never which answers were theirs.
- A term with fewer than five answers shows nothing at all, not even the count.
- Comments are shown with no name and not in the order they arrived.
- The pulse follows NSW public school term dates. If a year's dates are missing, the page says so and no pulse opens.
