Getting around the staff app
Where the menus are on a computer, a tablet and a phone, and how to find any page quickly.
Updated 18 October 2026
Why this exists
A new staff member can lose time hunting for pages, and the screen looks different on a phone, a tablet and a computer. This article shows tutors, admin and front desk staff where the menus are on each device and how to reach any page quickly. You see only what your role uses, so the menus stay short.
Every staff page opens in the same frame. What you see depends on your role and permissions, so two people at the same centre can have different menus.
On a computer or tablet
- The top tabs are your areas, such as Home, Mail, Teaching, People, Scheduling, Finance, Reports, Safety, Settings and Training. Tabs that do not fit sit under More.
- The side menu lists the pages of the area you are in, under group headings. You can fold it to a narrow strip and open it again.
- On the right of the top bar are search (it searches the library), Report incident, Tools, the light and dark switch, your notifications and your account menu.
On a phone
- The header is the page you are on. Tap the title to jump to another page in the same area.
- The bar at the bottom holds four of your areas and Menu.
- Menu opens everything else, including your account and sign out.
Report incident
Report incident is in the header on every screen, for every staff member. Use it whenever you are worried about a child's safety. It is also the first page of the Safety area. See Reporting a safety concern as staff.
Good to know
- If a page you expect is missing, you probably do not hold the permission for it. Ask your centre's admin.
- A page that refuses you says which permission it needs.
- Your home page is Today: your lessons, rolls to mark and what is waiting on you.
- Your account menu (your picture or initials) holds Settings and Support. Tutors also find My pay and Refer a tutor there.
- A feature your centre has not switched on is left out of the menus. The owner or an admin turns features on in Settings > Features.
- Admin pages that have a help article show a Help link in their header.
