Recordings and photos

Why this exists

You should decide whether photos of your child are used, not find out afterwards. You choose for each child whether photos are allowed, and what happens if your centre records online lessons. Your centre sees your answer, and you can change it at any time.

You decide, for each child, whether your centre may use photos of them. You also choose what should happen if your centre records online lessons.

Choose for each child

1. Open More > Recordings and photos, or go to Recordings and photos.
2. For each child, choose whether photos are allowed.
3. Set the recording choices for each child.

Your answer is saved straight away and your centre's staff can see it.

Photos

Photos of a child are not allowed until you say yes. Your centre sees your answer on your child's record. You can change it at any time.

Recording online lessons

Most centres do not record online lessons: no video or sound is kept. The board is saved with the lesson, and the times people join and leave are kept for the roll.

Your centre's admin can switch on recording for online lessons. If they do:

• A lesson is recorded only when every child in it has recording allowed on this page.
• Everyone in the lesson sees a Recording sign while it records.
• Recordings are kept for 90 days, then deleted, unless the centre must keep one because of a safety concern.
• If you turn rewatching off, your family cannot play the recording back. Your centre's staff still can.

The page tells you whether your centre records lessons.

Captions

In an online lesson, anyone can turn on captions for themselves. While captions are on, what each person says is sent to a speech service outside Australia to be turned into text on screen. Captions are never saved.

Good to know

• Nothing written in an online lesson is private between two people.
• You can find this page from Privacy and your data too.
