Booking a lesson yourself
If your centre allows it, ask for an extra lesson or a trial lesson in an open time, and the tutor confirms it.
Updated 18 October 2026
Why this exists
Booking an extra lesson usually means phoning or emailing the centre and waiting to hear which times are free. Where your centre allows it, you can see the open times yourself and book one in a few taps, at a time that suits your family. You see the price and the cancellation terms before you confirm, so there are no surprises.
Some centres let parents book an extra lesson, or a first trial lesson, into an open time themselves.
Book a lesson
- Open More > Book a lesson. If you do not see it, your centre has not opened booking to families yet.
- Under What would you like to book?, choose your child and the kind of lesson, such as an extra lesson.
- Choose where it happens, if there is a choice: at the centre, online or at home.
- Tap a day, then tap a time from the open times shown.
- Check the price, who it is with, and If you cancel.
- Press Send booking request.
You see Request sent! with what happens next, and get an email saying when you will hear by. The time is held for you while you wait, so nobody else can book it.
When the tutor answers
- Confirmed: the lesson is booked. You get an email and a notice, and it shows in your lessons.
- Declined: the tutor cannot take it. You are told why, if they gave a reason, and can pick another time.
- Not confirmed in time: if nobody answers by the time shown, the request is let go and you can pick another time.
Your requests are listed at the top of Book a lesson, with what happened to each. To take back a request that is still waiting, press Withdraw beside it.
Reminders
Once a lesson is confirmed, you get a reminder the day before, by email or text as your centre chooses, and an hour before if your centre sends one. You can turn reminders off in your notification choices.
Good to know
- Only a parent can book. Children cannot.
- Your centre sets how soon and how far ahead you can book, and may limit how many lessons you can book in a day or week.
- Your centre may only take online bookings at certain hours on each day, not on public holidays, and not for the same day after a cut-off time. The times shown already follow these.
- Tutors choose how they take bookings, for example online only at short notice, or only next to their other lessons. If that leaves some times out, the page says so.
- If you have an overdue invoice, booking online is paused until it is paid. You are told, with a link to your invoices.
- If someone takes the time just before you, you are asked to pick another.
- Nothing is charged when you ask, or when the tutor confirms. The lesson is charged the way your centre usually charges, once it is taught. Cancelling follows the terms shown before you book.
- If you see "not switched on", your centre does not offer booking online. Contact the centre instead.
