Group lessons
Book one lesson for several students, and how the roll, charges, rooms and pay work for a group.

Why this exists
Teaching several students in one lesson raises questions about rooms, charges and pay that are easy to get wrong. Here a group lesson is one booking with a main student and others added, and the app works out each family's share, each child's mark and the tutor's pay. Front desk staff and tutors get one lesson to manage instead of several.
A group lesson is one lesson with more than one student. The first student is the main student; the others are added to it.
Booking a group lesson
- Open New lesson and fill in the main student, tutor, service and time.
- Under Who, add the other students under Additional students.
- Book it. You can add or remove a student later from the lesson page.
Good to know
- Rooms: a room with a known number of seats never takes more students than it seats. Booking, adding a student or moving to a smaller room is refused with "This room holds N students. Choose a bigger room or remove a student." Rooms with no seat count, home lessons and online lessons are not checked.
- Repeats: a repeating lesson books the main student only. Add the other students to each week, or use group classes if your centre has them.
- The roll: each student has their own mark. The lesson is completed when anyone is present or late, and a no-show only when everyone is absent.
- Charges: each family is charged its own share by the service's pricing (a price per student, or a group price split between students). Two children of one family are one charge. In the packages mode, each child spends their own pack.
- Absences: an absent child in a lesson that went ahead is charged only if your centre charges no-shows.
- Cancelling: a family cannot cancel a group lesson other families are in. The centre cancelling it gives every child a makeup at no charge.
- Pay: the tutor is paid once for the lesson. Where pay depends on year level, it uses the highest year among the students being charged.
- Online: every student joins the same classroom, and each parent can join for their own child.
