Cancelling one child's place in a group

Take one child out of one week of a group lesson, for the family or for the centre, without touching anyone else.

Updated 18 October 2026

Why this exists

When one child in a group cannot come, cancelling the whole lesson would be wrong for everyone else. Front desk staff can take just that child out of that week, with the family's cancellation policy applied and the figure to read to the parent on screen. Everyone else's lesson, charge and makeup stays as it was.

When one child in a group lesson cannot come, you can cancel just their place in that lesson. Everyone else's place, charge and makeup stays as it is, and the lesson still goes ahead.

Before you start

If the lesson page shows no Cancel (name)'s place button beside each child, cancelling one place is not switched on for your centre yet.

Steps

  1. Open the lesson from Scheduling > Lessons.
  2. Press Cancel (name)'s place beside the child.
  3. Say who asked. If the family asked (for example, a phone call), the family's cancellation policy applies and the sheet shows the figure to read to the parent. If the centre is cancelling, it is free and a makeup is owed.
  4. Confirm.

Good to know

  • The same policy as a whole lesson applies: free notice, the late fee (held until the makeup window ends), the full charge close to the start, free late cancellations a year, and "their tutor asked them to".
  • There is no rebooking into the same lesson. The centre books the makeup from the owed list.
  • The child's desk is freed and seating re-runs.
  • You cannot cancel the last child this way. Cancel the whole lesson instead.
  • Home lessons cannot be cancelled one place at a time.
  • If the lesson's charge was already on an invoice, you need permission to edit invoices.
  • Parents can cancel their own child's place too, where this is switched on.
