Doing your training

Why this exists

Training that lives in long documents is hard to finish and harder to remember. The academy gives you short, hands-on lessons, keeps your place and shows clearly which courses your centre requires and when they are due. Passing a subject test can clear you to teach that subject.

Your centre's training lives in the Training > Academy. It holds courses your centre requires of you and a library you can read in your own time.

Find your training

1. Open Training > Academy.
2. Assigned to you lists your required courses first, each with its due date.
3. Library: in your own time holds everything else. Those courses are optional, and the time you spend on them is your own study, not paid training time.

If nothing is assigned yet, the page says so. Required training your centre gives you appears with its due date.

Work through a course

• Lessons are short and hands on: you sort, order, spot the problem and pick what you would say.
• Some lessons ask you to Do it in the app: you try the real task in your own account and press Check again.
• Press Mark as read and go on at the end of each lesson. Your place is kept.

Only your active time counts: the page must be open, in front, and used in the last two minutes.

The test

1. When you have read the lessons, press Start the test.
2. Answer one question at a time. You can go back and change an answer before you submit.
3. Press Submit for marking.

Pass it to complete the course. Some tests are subject tests: pass one to be cleared to teach that subject and year group.

If you do not pass, the course page says when you can try again. If you have used every attempt, ask your centre to reset them when you are ready.

Certificates

A passed course gives a certificate with a code. Open it from the course or from your certificates, then press Print or save as PDF.

Good to know

• Some courses run again as a refresher. The course shows Refresher due by with the date.
• If your centre pays for training time, it pays for active minutes on required courses only.
