Why this exists
Leaving the page you are working on to find a timer, a calculator or a note breaks your flow. Quick tools opens a drawer beside the page with a timer, lists, notes, a calculator, a dictionary and a word counter. You keep your place on the page while you use them.
Quick tools is the toolbox button in the corner of the screen. It opens a drawer beside the page, so you can keep working while you use it.
The tools
- Timer: countdowns and a stopwatch. Timers keep running when the drawer is closed, and the soonest shows beside the button. The alarm rings when one ends.
- Lists: checklists, saved to your account.
- Notes: quick notes, saved to your account. A note with formatting or a drawing opens on the Notes page instead.
- Calc: a calculator that works like the fx-82AU Plus II, plus a statistics panel for pasted data.
- Define: a dictionary and thesaurus. Only the word you look up is sent.
- Words: word count and changing case. It never leaves the page.
Steps
- Press the toolbox button, or press Alt+Q.
- Pick a tool, or press Alt+1 to Alt+6.
- On a computer or tablet, drag the drawer's edge to make it wider or narrower.
- Press Esc or Alt+Q to close it.
Good to know
- There is no AI in Quick tools.
- Parents and students have Quick tools too.
- On a phone the drawer opens as a full-height sheet.
