Maths tools for staff
Use the maths tools in lessons, present them on a big screen, and send a picture to the lesson board.

Why this exists
Drawing a graph or fraction wall by hand in the middle of a lesson takes time and rarely looks right. The maths tools give tutors interactive graphs, blocks, number lines and more to show on a big screen or send to the lesson board. A link brings back the exact set-up, so you can reuse what worked.
The maths tools are interactive helpers for lessons: a graph plotter, fraction wall, MAB blocks, ten frames, number lines, unit circle, algebra tiles, a scientific calculator and more. Open them from Maths tools.
Steps
- Open Maths tools and pick a tool.
- To show it on a big screen, press Present (the tool alone) or Projector.
- To share the exact set-up, press Copy link. The link opens the tool as you left it.
- To use a picture of it, press Picture, then Send to lesson board, Copy or Download picture.
The graph plotter
- Up to ten lines, and points typed as (x, y).
- A table of values for any function.
- Sliders with a range and Play.
- Every intercept, turning point and intersection is marked. Tap one, or pin it from the list.
- Drag a finger along a curve to trace it.
Sending a picture to the lesson board
The picture is made in your browser and kept in this browser only, for 30 minutes. If a lesson board is open, it offers Add it. Otherwise, open the board's More menu and choose Add picture from Maths tools. It is added as a new page. Nothing is uploaded.
In the online classroom, the tutor's Maths tools button opens the tools in a new tab, so a picture lands on the board beside it.
Good to know
- Students have the same tools in their own portal.
- No maths tool uses AI.
