The Bookshelf

Lessons, worksheets and practice exams your child can read in the app, and what is open or locked.

Updated 18 October 2026

Why this exists

It is hard to know which practice material suits your child, or whether it matches what they do in lessons. The Bookshelf puts your centre's lessons, worksheets and practice exams in one place, and shows you exactly what your child can open. Your child reads it in the app, so there is nothing to print or lose.

The Bookshelf is a library of lessons, worksheets, papers and practice exams. Your child reads the pages in the app, and some sets include online exams.

Before you start

Your centre switches the Bookshelf on. If you do not see Bookshelf under More, it is not switched on for your centre yet.

See what your child can open

  1. Open More > Bookshelf, or go to Bookshelf.
  2. Choose a subject to see its books and sets.
  3. Each item shows whether it is open or locked for your child.

What is open

  • Maths and English are open to every family.
  • Other subjects and test preparation open while your child is tutored in that subject, and stay open for 30 days after their last tutored lesson.
  • Pages are read on screen. Downloading a PDF is always paid, and is bought a whole book or set at a time.

Unlocking more

If something is locked, the Unlock page shows what your centre offers. Your child's app never shows prices: if something is locked for them, it just says it is not on their plan.

Good to know

  • Answers open once your child has finished a paper.
  • Pages show the reader's name and the date, so they stay with your family.
