Staying safe and telling someone

What to do if something online or in the app makes you feel worried, scared or unsafe.

Why this exists

This helps you know who to tell if something worries you. Telling someone is always the right thing to do.

If something makes you feel worried, scared or unsafe, you can always tell someone. You will not get in trouble for telling.

If you are in danger right now

Talk to someone now

Call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. It is free, any time, day or night. You can also visit Kids Helpline.

Tell your centre

  1. Open Report a problem. You can also find it in Me.
  2. Choose what happened, like "Someone is being mean to me" or "I do not feel safe".
  3. Tell us more if you want to. You do not have to.
  4. Send it.

A safe adult at your centre will read it. If you tick Leave my name off it, your name is hidden. The adults who check reports can still see it came from your account, so they can help you. Your family is not shown your report.

Keep yourself safe

  • Never share your password with anyone except your parent or carer.
  • Never share your address, phone number or school with someone online.
  • If someone asks you to keep a secret from your parents, tell a grown-up you trust.
