Spelling and reading

Your weekly spelling list, reading books you like, and seeing what you have done.

Why this exists

This helps you get better at spelling and reading, one step at a time. You can see how far you have come each week.

Spelling and reading each have their own page. Your level has a bush name, like Wattle.

Your spelling week

Open Spelling. The Today card shows your list for the week.

  1. Try it: spell the list before you practise. It shows what to work on.
  2. Practise: do two other spelling activities.
  3. Take the test: spell the list again on another day, and see how far you have come.

If you get every word right when you try it, the list is finished straight away. Sometimes your tutor picks your list for the week.

Reading books

Open Reading.

  1. Pick a book at your level.
  2. Read it. If you see a speaker, tap it to hear the question.
  3. Answer the questions at the end.

As you do well, the books get a bit harder. If they feel too hard, they get a bit easier.

Books about things you like

On the Reading page, tick up to five things you are interested in. Books about them come first, in Picked for you. All the other books are still there too.

See what you have done

Open My words and books to see the books you have read, the lists you have done and the tricky words you have beaten.
