Giving a sibling discount

Take a percentage off lessons for families with more than one child having lessons in the same week.

Updated 18 October 2026

Why this exists

Families with more than one child at your centre often ask for a sibling discount, and working it out by hand each week is fiddly. The sibling discount applies it for you, the same way every time, and families can read it on their billing page. Larger families are rewarded without extra admin.

A sibling discount takes a percentage off the lessons of a family's second and later children in any week where more than one of their children has lessons. It is off for every centre until you set it.

Before you start

You need the settings.edit permission. If you do not see the Sibling discount card on Settings > Billing and cancellations, it is not switched on for your centre yet. Ask your centre's admin.

Set it

  1. Open Settings > Billing and cancellations and find Sibling discount.
  2. Enter a whole percentage from 0 to 50.
  3. Choose who it applies to: every child after the first (the usual choice), or all children.
  4. Save. Each save is a new version, like the rest of your billing settings.

How it works

  • The week runs Monday to Sunday on your centre's calendar.
  • In each family's week, the dearest lesson (or pack, by its price per lesson) pays full price. That child's lessons that week are all full price, and the other children's lessons get the discount.
  • A child with no sibling having lessons that week gets nothing.
  • The discount comes off the lesson price, rounded to the cent, before GST. A late cancellation fee is worked out on the discounted price.
  • A price already charged never goes up because of a lesson booked later in the week.
  • A pack sold to a family with another child having lessons that week is discounted at the sale, unless it is the dearest. Credits are not discounted again.

Good to know

  • A new or bigger discount starts straight away. A smaller discount makes families pay more, so it needs the same notice as changing how families pay.
  • Families read the discount on their billing page and your cancellation policy page. Nothing shows at 0%.
