Family upgrades

Why this exists

When it is unclear what a tutoring family already gets, staff give mixed answers and extras are added in inconsistent ways. As the centre owner or admin, you set what each extra costs your families and add one to a family in a few clicks. Families get the extra straight away, and children are never shown offers or prices.

A tutoring family with no paid plan gets maths and English, games, progress, typing and the homework and notes their tutor sets. Everything else is an upgrade your centre can sell or give.

Before you start

• Prices are set on Settings > Services and prices (Services), which needs settings.edit.
• Adding an upgrade to a family needs families.edit.

Set your prices

1. Open Services and find Family upgrades.
2. Enter a price for each extra you sell, such as All subjects, Exam prep, AI study help, Languages, Coding or Lesson recordings.
3. Leave a price blank to keep that upgrade off sale.

Include everything for a while

You can give every tutoring family every upgrade free until a date, then set prices once you have feedback.

1. Open Settings > Families and enrolment > Everything included period (Everything included period). It needs settings.edit and two-step sign-in.
2. Pick the last included day. The picker suggests three months from today.
3. Press Turn on. To end it early, press Turn off.

While it runs:

• Tutoring families with no paid plan get every area your centre offers. It does not switch on anything your centre does not have.
• AI study help is included within the usual daily limits for each child. The parent's AI switch and the age rules still apply.
• Parents see "Everything is included free until" the date on their settings page, with no prices. Children never see it.
• Two weeks before the last day, and on the last day, each parent gets a notice in the app saying what stays included and what becomes an upgrade.
• Families paying for a plan, and families you have given full access, are not affected.

The day after the last day, areas lock as they did before. Nothing a child did is lost.

Add an upgrade to a family

1. Open the family page and find Upgrades.
2. Under Add an upgrade, choose one.
3. Choose how it was arranged: Sold to the family (enter the price agreed and how often it is charged) or A gift from the centre.
4. Press Add upgrade. The family has it straight away.

To remove one, press Cancel beside it.

Good to know

• Adding an upgrade records it and turns it on. It does not charge the family. Bill it the way you agreed.
• Children never see prices or offers. A locked area is simply hidden from them. The one place an upgrade is offered is the parent's settings page.
• AI features also depend on the parent's own AI switch for each child.
