Choosing your email domain

Pick the domain your centre's email and staff mailboxes use, add a new one, and check its DNS records.

Updated 18 October 2026

Why this exists

Email from an unfamiliar address is easy for families to ignore or for their inbox to treat as junk. As the centre owner or admin, you choose the domain your centre's email and staff mailboxes use, so messages arrive from an address families recognise as yours. The screen gives you each DNS record to copy and checks it for you.

Every email the portal sends, and every staff mailbox, uses one domain. You choose it under Settings > Integrations > Email (Resend), below the connection form.

Before you start

  • You need the integrations.manage permission, and two-step sign-in.
  • Connect email first. The picker says Connect email above first until you do.
  • Adding a domain means changing its DNS records, so have access to wherever your domain is hosted.

If you use the platform's email

Your centre already has a default address that needs no set-up. You can also add a domain of your own, for example a subdomain of your website such as mail.yourcentre.com.au.

If you use your own Resend account

The picker lists the domains on your Resend account with their status. Only a verified domain can be chosen.

Add a new domain

  1. Under Add a new domain, type the domain and press Add domain.
  2. Copy each record shown (name and value) into your domain's DNS.
  3. Press Check verification. DNS changes can take minutes, sometimes hours. Press it again later if it is still checking.

Switch to a domain

  1. Press Send from this domain beside a verified domain.
  2. Read what will change, then press Yes, switch.

When you switch:

  • Every staff mailbox moves to the new domain and keeps its name (jane@old becomes jane@new).
  • Email goes out from the new domain from the next message.
  • Replies to the old addresses stop arriving in the portal. If families may still write to them, keep the old domain with whoever hosts it and forward that mail on.

Good to know

  • A domain another centre already uses cannot be added.
  • If adding a domain to the platform's email says it is not switched on yet, ask your centre's admin; your default address keeps working.
