Turning features on

See every feature your centre can use in one place, whether it is on, and turn it on yourself or ask XTutio.

Why this exists

Features spread across many settings pages are hard to find, so a centre owner may never learn something useful is available. This page lists every feature your centre can use and whether it is on, in one place. You can turn many on yourself and see what each one needs first.

Settings > Features lists everything your centre can use, grouped by what it is for: lessons, home tutoring, families, money, staff, messages, learning and connections. Each feature shows whether it is on.

Before you start

You need the settings.edit permission, and two-step sign-in. Every change is written to your centre's audit log before it is made.

Turn a feature on

  1. Open Settings > Features.
  2. Find the feature. Read Before you turn it on: some features need your email or texts connected first.
  3. Press On. Press Off to turn it off again.
  4. Press Open to go to the page where the feature is used.

Some features are set up on a page of their own, such as promo codes, the enrolment agreement or families booking lessons. Those show Set it up and take you to that page, which has its own switch.

Features XTutio turns on

A few are turned on by XTutio for you, because they need XTutio to set something up first: online payments by card, the API and webhooks, the Bookshelf, live typing races, a complete lesson history, the team inbox, the call coach, calendar sync and student friends. They show Ask XTutio. Once XTutio has turned the API or webhooks on, you make your own keys and webhook addresses under Settings > API keys and Settings > Webhooks.

Good to know

  • Not available yet means the feature needs an update XTutio has not made, so it cannot be turned on yet.
  • A feature that is off is left out of the menus, so nobody opens an empty page.
  • After you open, the setup checklist suggests a few features to try next.
