Making slides

Build a slide deck, present it with speaker notes, and open or save PowerPoint files.

Why this exists

Building a lesson deck or parent night presentation in another program, then emailing it around, is slow. Slides lets staff make, present and download a deck inside Documents, with speaker notes and a presenter view. You can also bring in an existing presentation file, or get a first draft from a topic.

Slides is the app's presentation maker, for lessons, parent nights and staff meetings.

Make a deck

  1. Open Documents, choose + Slides.
  2. Pick a theme from Themes and a Slide layout for each slide.
  3. Add text, pictures, shapes, tables and charts from the ribbon.
  4. Type what you want to say under the slide in Speaker notes (S).

Present

  • Present starts from the first slide; Present from this slide (Shift+F5) starts where you are.
  • Presenter view shows your notes and the next slide on your screen while the audience sees the slide.
  • Hide this slide when presenting skips a slide without deleting it.

PowerPoint files

  • Import PowerPoint (.pptx) opens a .pptx file as a new deck.
  • Download PowerPoint (.pptx) saves the deck for PowerPoint or Keynote.
  • Print with speaker notes gives you a handout to teach from.

Generate slides with AI

Generate slides with AI writes a first deck from a topic, year level and subject. Only those three things are sent. Do not type students' names or details, and check every slide before you teach from it. It needs your centre's AI connection under Settings > Integrations.
